Apparently Gillard has the numbers and will be Prime Minister in the morning. (This will mean a lot of soft focus stories on "the first female Prime Minister" which kind of bothers me. Her gender should be a matter of indifference.)

I can't imagine Rudd would stay in politics. He never had a real base in the party. They only went with him because they thought he was electable. Now he's not. People are saying his only faction was Newspoll, and that has abandoned him, so he's gone.

He is also being described as a "crypto-fascist." He certainly was a control freak.
