Cooling my heels

I'm still not in Queensland, but my flights are booked for tomorrow morning.  I'm going to Mackay, and for the first six days I will be staying 50 metres from the ocean.  Then a mining expo hits town and takes up every room within an hour's drive, so I may couch surf for a few days.

There will be a lot of work but I think it's better for me to go to Mackay that Gladstone, where I've already campaigned and where I suspect I might get more stabby.  Also there is no beach.

It was a strange day at work as I had already cleared just about everything last week.  Today it was just some campaign preparation work and mostly cooling my heels.  I was able to get to the gym at a reasonable hour though.

TW: Push and Pull - 50 lawnmower rows, 50 bench press, 50 bicep curls, 50 chest contractions, row 2km, 50 thrusters.

I got home in time to join Helga (nicknames in my house are currently being worked out) in picking up Malice (ditto) from the airport and then swinging by the RUC for a cheap steak with Dr Daz who is back from America and whose nose is still out of sorts having been hit again in his first game back since I broke it.

I'm still all packed and waiting to go.

Getting to the airport late: Bad

Still getting exit row legroom: Good

Being offered wine in Brisbane airport: Good (not that I know anything about wine)

Getting seven touches (including two on the head) juggling a soccer ball when it rolled towards me in Brisbane airport: Good (and the little girl whose ball it was was duly impressed)

Wearing a suit for (probably) the last time in a month: Good (I wore the suit on the plane so I would have one just in case)

Doing most of the Qantas inflight magazine cryptic crossword on the flight to Mackay: Good (My favourite clues: First person after Luther King to have a drink (7), Walk on stage with captain, remove hat and amuse the crowd (9)

Finding out the campaign HQ is a windowless room: Bad (It was spooky going outside and realising the sun had set)

Staying in a place near the beach: Good (if it's a nice beach)

Staying in a place with a cement truck in the car park: Bad (if it starts up before sunrise)
