Jobs and non jobs

Today I inquired about two paid jobs and one volunteer opportunity. I contacted a political friend in Canada about the prospect of going to work for the new majority government there and also e-mailed a new Twitter friend who once worked on a campaign in the UK with me in 2005. The Canada inquiry wasn't strictly for a job that is open, but was more me putting out feelers to see what the situation is like. The other job would be Sydney based and my e-mail mentioned our common campaign experiences before asking for more information about the role they have going in public affairs. I'll see what comes of this, and I will also contact some of my other Canadian friends. Further steps will include HR agencies, and those of you with HR expertise may be contacted for advice.
I also spoke to the ACT Rural Fire Service and got details of the Brigade Captain of Gungahlin though I haven't heard back from him yet. Again, it's too early to say exactly what will come of this but I hope to have a better idea soon.
Little work was done, and some of my stocks recovered from the battering they have recieved soon. The ones that have fallen I am likely to hold on to (like VMG which has fallen to frustrating levels over the last three months) but I have no ability to get further into anything at the moment so I am close to selling a couple of stocks (SNL and BRC) that are starting to look more expensive and thus giving myself the option to pick up some bargains.
Off to the gym. I'm in an AMRAP mood. If you know what AMRAP means, good for you! Yesterday I walked home in the cold and this morning I walked into work also in the cold. Because I'm like that.
Also, still no luck on the internet even after a 90 minute call to the help line. They are pretty sure it's a fault with the line but want us to get a working phone plugged into the line that they can test before sending someone to sort it out. I don't pretend to understand what they are talking about most of the time. We are considering cancelling the service entirely if they don't get this sorted soon.

Date: 2011-05-19 08:26 pm (UTC)I'd switch the internet service. These people really don't sound like they're interested in assisting you at all.

Date: 2011-05-19 10:54 pm (UTC)I did 10 burpees, 20 pushups, 20 kettlebell swings, row 400m for 20 minutes and was just 230m short of doing five full rounds.
The internet situation I will work out with Helga and Alleluia. I just wonder if this problem would be any different with anyone else.
