With the housing situation resolved, I can now pay attention to other things.  Such as:

1) My sister and her family are getting a new puppy for Christmas.  They met her yesterday.  Any suggestions for names?

One of my nieces is going with "Pumpkin Doofus" but I suspect they will go with something else.

2) I am already sick of Oprah's Australian visit.  First there was this.  Yes, apparently Australians like to hang out in hip joints called McCafes.  I was not aware of this, but it was on Oprah's show so it must be true.  (Oh Carrie Bickmore, I used to be indefferent towards you.  Now I have literally no respect for you at all.  A pox on you!  A POX I SAY!!!)

I can do without people talking about how generous she is flying people out.  They should be thanking Qantas and the Australian taxpayer.

The hysteria is a bit much.

Cute dog. Suggesting dog names to people you don't know is hard. Do they want something exotic? Easy to say? Commonplace? Related to the dog in question?

I'd name it Reese (Reesy). Reese is a cute name and it reminds me of the candy, Reese's. Since Reese's is chocolate and the dog is chocolate-colored it actually fits pretty well.

Oprah sucks.

I'm not sure what kind of name they are going for but I will pass Reese along.

Ha ha, I figured as much. I was just kind of making a point on all the things considered when naming a dog/cat/goldfish/whatever it may be. Naming your own animal is easy. Helping someone name theirs is a lot harder. ^_^

Hope your family loves their new dog! Puppies are a riot, but also a pain sometimes. :D

The name "Guiness" came up. :-) He's a cutey.

OMG...that video is absolutely hysterical. :-D

Guinness is a good name, and my brother in law likes beer.

There is news footage showing her audience arriving. It's like a visit from a foreign head of state, and Oprah isn't even here yet.

At any rate, what an awful way to have a holiday. Being cloistered with people just like you and being shuttled around on someone else's schedule.

The type of person who would willingly be in Oprah's audience would love that. And, OMG, just the honor of being in Oprah's presence. *faint* Or something like that.

Puppy! I actually like the already nominated name.

Fuck this whole Oprah thing. Fuck it to hell.

So you aren't going to try to get tickets? You would probably be happier catching up for a coffee with the rest of the shielas anyway.

Somehow I thought you might like the puppy. :)

Aww..puppy! We missed out on the really cute puppy phase of our dogs.

Re Oprah, my friend in Melbourne is somewhat less than impressed with the whole thing, too. To say the least.

It's the hubris that bothers me.

And for the record, "Hubris" would be a terrible name for a dog.
